Bridge 261 is a three (3) span reinforced concrete cast-in-place structure built in 1924 and is listed in the National register of Historic Places (NRHP). The design strategy consisted of providing a sustainable, environmental friendly and economically feasible structural control to prevent future erosion. Project includes conservation/retrofit works at bridge structure and road safety improvements. Construction documents include environmental evaluations, Documented Categorical Exclusion (FHWA and NEPA-compliant), hydrologic-hydraulic/scour analysis, bridge general structural assessment, design drawings, technical specifications and permits/consultations. Extensive coordination with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña was performed pursuant to 54 USC 30-6108, 36 CFR Part 800 and Puerto Rico Law 112.
