TRCE worked on the design, civil engineering and permitting process to restore the Rio Piedras Historical Aqueduct (RPFA) to as near as possible its original condition. The dam was completed in the decade of 1910. The RPFA was the first modern aqueduct in Puerto Rico, to supply potable water to the residents of San Juan. It is of significant historical and cultural value, and it was recently included in the National Register Historic Places. The project includes the restoration of the low-head dam and raw water intake structure, restoration of the Rio Piedras left bank and the construction of a fishway to allow upstream migration of the Rio Piedras aquatic species across the dam.
