TRCE provided design, civil engineering, and permitting services for the restoration of the Río Piedras Historical Aqueduct (RPHA), with the objective of returning the facility as closely as possible to its original condition. The dam was completed in the 1910s and represents the first modern aqueduct in Puerto Rico, supplying potable water to the residents of San Juan. Due to its historical and cultural significance, the facility has been included in the National Register of Historic Places.
The project includes the restoration of the low-head dam and raw water intake structure, stabilization of the left bank of the Río Piedras, and the construction of a fishway to allow upstream migration of aquatic species across the dam.
